Dr. John Tom Benham moved to Conesville with his family during 1824.  At that time, he was two years old. Dr. John was a family physician in Conesville, as well as a surgeon. He was always ready to help anyone. It is written that his horse and buck-board wagon were always at the ready, should the good doctor be needed. He died at the age of 86. He is buried in the village cemetery. According to the history books he was kind and well respected. Helping all, even if they owed him money.
