In 1801 the Susquehanna Turnpike was created. This major road-way brought trade into and out of the area. As a result significant commerce and expansion occurred. The Susquehanna Turnpike was 25 miles in length. It began at the Hudson River in Catskill. Today NY 990V runs through a section of the original Turnpike.
